Returning to the Kompakt fold after the much-acclaimed 12" releases TRAUERMUSIK (KOMPAKT 149) and TELESCOPE (KOMPAKT 171), Ewan Pearson and Al Usher aka PARTIAL ARTS continue their adventure in the borderlands of kraut disco and romantic house: with TAIFA, the two renowned producers present another wonderfully undulating, pop-bred jam backed up by a vibrant floor rework from the master of analogue head games Andrew Meecham aka THE EMPEROR MACHINE.
TAIFA starts off with a somewhat oceanic feeling, thanks to its opening set of sunny guitar licks glistening to the backdrop of whale-like drones. Soon, a friendly shaking beat joins the proceedings and triggers all kinds of melodic synth flourishes, held together by the cut's rolling groove and its penchant for sonic metamorphosis.
Just like the Radio slave and Alter Ego revamps (on "Trauermusik" and "Telescope") before it, the EMPEROR MACHINE EXTENDED MIX takes things in a decidedly energetic direction, making skilled use of hypnotic sequencing and charged drumming to rough up the original's laid-back vibe in the most alluring manner.
Ewan Pearson and Al Usher both have illustrious paths as producers, mixers and remixersbut rarely release their own productions.This is their third release for KOMPAKT, the first since 2008’s “Telescope” (KOMPAKT 171).
Ewan Pearson has had an amazing year behind the scenes having recently finished studio production and mixing work for new albums from Jagwar Ma, TV Baby & Ben Watt. With nearly 100 remixes under his belt he has already reworked Tensnake (feat. Nile Rodgers), Röyksopp and S.R. Krebs in just this year!
Emperor Machine delivers one of the biggest acid tracks you will hear this year following his recent smash remix for Erol Alkan on Phantasy.

Noo are Daze Dasen (aka Plastique De Reve) and Sami Liuski (aka Bangkok Impact / Putsch '79). Built out of imaginative sampling combined with analogue hardware, these tracks are phenomenally produced, lush disco string fuelled epics that fully work their magic in a club setting. VARIOUS ARTISTS - Rebolledo Mixes: Momento Drive - Kompakt

It surely must be a pretty special DJ mixtape if a label sees the need for a CD edition - in this age of total download overload, it's just something you don't do anymore. But along comes REBOLLEDO and proves everybody wrong with MOMENTO DRIVE, a persuasive plea for a nearly forgotten format and a high point for a vanishing art form.

"I always liked the word 'momento'", says the DJ and producer, "because of its double meaning in Spanish... as in 'moment' when talking about a space in time or 'momentum' when talking about inertia". And sure enough, the tendency of an object to keep in motion is one important part of REBOLLEDO's very own formula, but it's not the only one: "I truly enjoy the feeling of constant motion - music can take you to places without you even leaving the room. The resulting effect on the body that has nothing to do with bpm amounts or high volume, but all with inertia and power. I like to call that effect 'drive'".

The first major solo outing for Rebo after his adored full-length debut SUPER VATO (CÓMEME CD 01) from 2011 is a DJ mix - in the hands of an artist as distinctive as the Mexican half of globetrotting duo infernale PACHANGA BOYS, however, the result is just as engaging and idiosyncratic as any artist album. Rebo's own studio work makes a welcome appearance with the exclusive "Windsurf, Sunburn And Dollar", Pachanga Boys' "Poem For The Youth", their remix of Slove's "Flash" or Red Axes' "Caminho De Dreyfus" (reworked by the master himself) - all of them proven bangers neatly interwoven with eerily fitting contributions from kindred spirits such as Barnt, The Twins, Wolfgang Voigt or Justus Köhncke.

And then, there's that cover. A loving recreation of the artwork for the album "Wally On The Road" from Pinoy rock legend Wally Gonzalez, this harks back to Rebo stumbling upon that record in the psychedelic rock section of a shop in Shibuya, Tokyo: "70 ́s Yamaha motocross bike, Porsche on the side... what else do you need!?!? I bought it right away." The music found an open ear, too:

"It was raw and powerful, a perfect match for my taste. That ́s when I decided to include one of his tracks in the project and to recreate the original artwork. In my perspective, it perfectly mirrors my approach to music - simple and strong at the same time."

It truly is a rare feat to find a DJ mix informed with as much personality as this one - especially when it comes paired with skilled flow and a knack for musical storytelling. A wonderful continuation of Kompakt's celebrated Mix CD series, MOMENTO DRIVE more than ticks all the right boxes - like an excellent wine, it is an extraordinary sensory experience orchestrated by a world-renowned sommelier of sounds. Or in Rebo's own words: "'Momento Drive' is a little tribute to all those who like Wally and love to do it raw and powerful".

MICHELE MININNI - Tupolev Love Ep - Optimo Trax

Michele Mininni is from Southern Italy where he says people are not interested in his type of music so he was forced to reach out to Glasgow where it turns out some people most defintely are. Citing his influences as kraut, post rock, new wave and electronic amongst others, this is his debut release and most accomplished it is too. Lowering the tempo somewhat compared with previous Optimo Trax releases, Tupolev Love is a sub 100bpm cosmic trancer while Telekomdisko raises the tempo and heads off into sun drenched space territory. The EP is completed by Michele's fellow countrymen, Boot & Tax's great acid inflected remix of Tupolev Love.

GOLDEN TEACHER - Party People / Love Ep - Optimo Music

After the success of their first EP “Bells from the Deep End” and their second “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”, we are very happy to present the third Golden Teacher EP with another sleeve designed and made by their fair hands. This is is an edition of 500 as that is all that time allows to be made. We are not advocates of limited edition releases but sometimes necessity dictates. DEADBEAT and PAUL ST HILAIRE - The Infinity Dub Sessions - BLKRTZ

Deadbeat. Tikiman. Infinity. Dub. A quadrangle of such obvious statement and perfect musical inference may very well never have been uttered for those of the wholly weeded out persuasion with a discerning ear to the ground of current musical runnings. Indeed, when the great book of Dub is written the names Scott Monteith and Paul St Hilaire will undoubtedly figure highly in its chapters devoted to recent years. Monteith, the last great prodigal son of the doctrine handed down from the Blue Mount of Lord Scratch and King Tubby, St Hilaire the undisputed voice of a whole generation of cloistered bedroom sound smiths, those fanatical warrior monks, followers of the most Holy House of Ernestus and Von Oswald incarnate. 
Having developed a fast friendship from their very first meeting in Montreal at the premier Micro Mutek event a decade ago, Deadbeat and Tikiman's occasional collaborative performances have since blown the minds of audiences from Berlin to Tokyo and many points in between. No great surprise then that their first album length venture is a Tour de Force of Dub music of the highest order.
 Nearly a year in the making, the genetic code of Deadbeat's Infinity Dubs series gets shot through with a Dreader than Dread Kingstonian logic, hi hats dropping back from the three to the one, Tikiman at his most militant, poetic, fierce, and flowing. These are the recordings of two lions uncaged, and none who bare witness shall escape their fiery judgement.
If music is truly eternal, here be two voices which shall echo in infinity with all the weight, reverence, and dire power unleashed with every tectonic bass hit, and every whimsical turn of phrase here laid to wax. And if these eight burnt offerings are any indication of what happens when these two sit down for a session of smoke and reasoning, here's hoping they choose to do it frequently. Dub without end. Ad Infinitum.
The Infinity Dub Sessions will be available on CD and 2x12 vinyl formats via BLKRTZ, with worldwide distribution through Kompakt on March 3rd 2014.

Archiviato il successo della KOLLEKTION 1, Kompakt continua i festeggiamenti per le due decadi di vita regalando proprio in questi giorni ad appassionati e fan della leggendaria etichetta e casa di distribuzione tedesca un nuovo tuffo nei lavori e nelle uscite di questi 20 anni trascorsi a produrre, releasare e far ballare milioni di persone in giro per il mondo al ritmo della musica elettronica. KOLLEKTION 2 è una raccolta di tracce speciale perché riunisce il nuovo e il vecchio, raw stuffes e cosette soft, successi certificati e i "favourites" dell'etichetta: basta scorrere la tracklist per rendersi conto dell'incredibile lavoro svolto dalla Kompakt Crew in quel di Kohl fin dal 1993 e per tutta la durata di questi magici 20 anni, ricolmi di successi, progetti riusciti e soddisfazioni. Closer Musik e Oxia, Jürgen Paape e Steadycam sono hit immortali che schiudono lo scrigno dei ricordi di ogni clubber che si rispetti; Lawrence e Saschienne ci regalano perle vere che è impossibile non apprezzare, senza dimenticare i veri Michael Mayer, Reinhard Voigt o Coma. JOHN TEJADA - Anaphora - Palette Recordings

Tante parole si potrebbero spendere su John Tejada, artista che da un decennio abbondante regala emozioni in musica. Fresco fresco è per esempio il caso di “Somewhere”, singolo pubblicato poche settimane fa su Kompakt.

Dopo diverse ospitate su label terze, John torna a casa dalla sua amata Palette Recordings, che non vedeva una sua release in veste “solo artist” dal 2009. "Anaphora" contiene due tracce in cui è evidente il marchio di fabbrica di questo producer, che negli anni gli ha permesso di guadagnarsi il rispetto sia degli ascoltatori sia degli addetti ai lavori.

BLOND:ISH - Inward Visions - Kompakt

Anstacia D'Elene e Vivie Ann Bakos in arte Blond:ish, sono nate a Montreal ma ormai fisse a Londra da anni, coltivano la loro passione di creare musica d'arte organica e multi dimensionale fin dai tempi bui della discoteca Cherry nella loro città natale.
Intriganti e tecnicamente impeccabili, il duo di bionde ha una forza da non sottovalutare dimostrata dalle recenti uscite per Kompakt e Get Physical, accertata dalla reputazione che sono riuscite a consolidare in questi anni.

GUI BORATTO - Too Late - Kompakt

Non siamo sempre pessimisti, guardando bene lo stato delle cose ci sono le prove sufficienti per dire che, in pieno XXII secolo, i grandi amori esistono ancora. Non tutti, sia chiaro, ma molti ancora esistono e resistono a dispetto del tempo che passa, degli impegni che aumentano, della passione che ogni tanto cala. 

Stoico, il legame d'amore si arrocca, persiste alle avversità ed infine, come nel più classico degli happy ending, trova elevazione, soddisfazione e completamento nella creazione di un progetto comune, idillio di una compensazione reciproca mentale ed ideale prima ancora che fisica.

KÖLSCH - 1977 - Kompakt

BLACK ASTEROID - Black Acid Remix - Electric Deluxe

Bryan Barton comincia la sua carriera come sound designer di Prince ai Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota studiando ed imparando metodi di produzione che lo ispirano a fondare la sua band. Bryan si muove verso Londra e lancia i Motor, un progetto che vede luce su NovaMute, Shitkatapult, Kompakt Extra e CLR.
Da allora un po di tempo è passato e la voglia di fare musica è cresciuta vertiginosamente dando a Bryan l'idea di sviluppare anche un progetto da solista sotto il nome di Black Asteroid che su CLR, vede il debutto nel 2011 con l'EP "The Engine", 4 tracce Techno frizzanti e grintose manipolate da suoni meccanici.

GREGOR SCHWELLENBACH - Gregor Schwellenbach Spielt 20 Jahre Kompakt - Kompakt

In 20 anni di Kompakt, nessuno si è mai annoiato! L'etichetta di Colonia ha sempre saputo mantenere la sua posizione geografica e stilistica, e tutto questo lo dobbiamo ai molti grandi e diversi artisti che in Kompakt hanno trovato la loro strada segnando decenni entusiasmanti e di grande ispirazione.
Dalle torri di confine, il multi-strumentista Gregor Schwellenbach separa questi 20 anni di classici techno sperimentali dando una visione sofisticata e ricca di arrangiamenti studiati;

COMA - My Orbit - Kompakt

In seguito ai due acclamati Ep sempre su Kompakt e dopo un anno di meticolosa preparazione dell'album Technicolor in uscita ad aprile, i Coma rilasciano un anteprima del loro lavoro scortato da due remix brillanti prodotti da Dauwd, fresco di release su Ghostly International  e dal duo finlandese Clouds già noti ai molti per le loro produzioni su Ramp Recordings.

SASCHIENNE - Grand Crue Remixe - Kompakt

In uscita l'11 marzo 2013 "Grand Crue Remixe" di Saschienne, sempre su Kompakt, vede una versione live maestosa del brano contenuto nel loro album di debutto "Unknown" che porterà i ballerini più desiderosi a vivere un'esperienza intergalattica. Questo Ep viene accompagnato da un remix del duo più glamour della scena musicale internazionale: i Pachanga Boys che danno il loro punto di vista su questa traccia scandendola con ritmiche ipnotiche e vorticose lasciando l'ascoltatore pietrificato ed attonito per 13 minuti.
Uno stile inconfondibile che caratterizza il duo formato da Rebolledo e Superpitcher.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO - Live - Delicacies

James Ford e Jas Shaw aka Simian Mobile Disco, hanno sempre avuto una invidiata capacità di trasformare il loro sound rimanendo sempre saldamente all'avanguardia della musica contemporanea.
Le loro prime esplorazioni fanno parte di un ceppo inimitabile di danza indie, un full di release che ha visto collaborazioni illustri  come Alexis Taylor, Beth Ditto e Jamie Liddell, un suono psichedelico con sfumature elettroniche del tutto personale.

Ancora aperto il capitolo Geffen (Cómeme 013), Barnt rilancia la sfida al successo con un 12" mozzafiato sempre sull'etichetta di Matias Aguayo.

Vari e controversi i giudizi del music business su questo produttore tedesco, che con una traccia, ha fatto urlare e ballare mezzo mondo.
Si è parlato di impertinenza, lo hanno accusato di ciarlataneria e di frode, calcolatore di una truffa e burattinaio, ma è con questo nuovo Ep "Ariola" che ci si rende conto del vero valore di questo Artista e della sua ricerca.
Un pieno di maleducazione viziosa che provoca  sul dancefloor  reazioni fisiche precise, un calcolo di frequenze che stimolano il ballo, una sceneggiatura teatrale sovraesposta , anti-technocrate e delicatamente decadente.
Spudorata euforia per associare legami curiosi ed effetti eminenti.

COMA - In Technicolor - Kompakt

In seguito ai due acclamati Ep già usciti su Kompakt e dopo più di un anno di meticolosa preparazione, è finalmente arrivato il momento dell'attesissimo album di debutto per il duo composto da Marius Bubat e Georg Conrad aka Coma.
"In Technicolor" vedrà presto la luce del giorno e sarà una vista panoramica della nuova scuola di Colonia, una miscela di elettronica pop che si apre dal mondo techno riservato ai clubs ad un ampia prospettiva più orecchiabile ed equilibrata. Una versione a colori della strada già intrapresa dal duo anni fa, espressiva e melodica fusione di diversi suoni senza mai cadere nella noiosa ripetitività delle convenzioni.



Layout di una rete fitta di influenze, "In Technicolor",  è anche un approccio collaborativo tra vari personaggi che orbitano intorno a Colonia, nomi come Ada e Roosevelt, un andirivieni tra songwriting e infectious grooves che lasceranno al pubblico in ascolto una delle esperienze più coinvolgenti del 2013.
