MIDLAND - Duster Ep - Aus Music

2014 has been a continuation of what was a very busy and successful 2013 for Midland. Having set up his own imprint, Graded, last year he has gone on to contribute to JD Twitch's Autonomous Africa project, a yearly charity release which raises money for different African Charities. This has been swiftly followed up by the release of 'Before We leave' on Phonica White - the label that fathered his first solo release. And it doesn't stop there as we welcome Midland back for the 'Duster EP,' out on 15th September.
The secret to Midland’s success perhaps lies in his ability to keep his listeners guessing; with each new release, a new sound palette is presented, always adding more colour to his catalogue. This new EP is no exception as this time he draws out immersive pads and understated melody over the top of percussive grit, in parts channeling some of that irresistible Autonomous Africa flavour.
The release has already garnered support DJs and radio alike with Jamie XX playing out ‘Reflex’ on both his recent Boiler Room and BBC Radio 1 Guest mix, while another early unveiling of 'Pitch Drift' dropped recently on Benji B's show.

WILL SAUL - Pedal Power / Valhalla - Aus Music

Up next for Aus is label head Will Saul. Following his vocal-heavy collaboration album as CLOSE for !K7 last year, this 12" see's Will venture back to the dance floor for some light relief.
With anticipation for the release of his DJ-Kicks mix in June growing, he lets these two tracks loose to tide listeners over. The high-octane "Pedal Power," which also features in his DJ-Kicks mix, and the weighty but spacious "Valhalla".
Both tracks were born out of a number of live jams on a small outboard setup with a laptop used only to record. A Jomox Xbase 999 drum machine triggering a Moog Minitaur for bass, all running through a number of highly tweak-able pedals and outboard fx units with a Roland Juno for pads.
It was a refreshing low maintenance change for Will following the CLOSE album and there will be a few more 12"s of this ilk released over the coming months.

This summer sees Will embark on an extensive world tour to promote his DJ Kicks album and look out for another CLOSE EP at the end of August which features 3 collaborative tracks with Second Storey (Houndstooth) and vocalist Kid A with an extra special remix from Seven Davis Junior.

GLIMPSE - Baretta - Aus Music

Chris Spero has been at the cutting edge of house and techno for many years now, with landmark releases for labels such as Planet E and Hypercolour as Glimpse whilst his recent reinvention as Dense & Pika (alongside Alex Jones) for Hotflush has seen him capable of hulking, powerful techno that has won him fans from Richie Hawtin to Koze whilst troubling the Beatport top ten via their smash 'Colt'.
His first EP for Aus Music last year, ‘True South,’ carried the familiar weight of his Dense & Pika project, yet touched on a deeper, rolling house-leaning sound.
With this new 12”, he once again steers straight down the house-techno divide with a set of perfectly weighted basslines underpinning some deliciously, rough-cut percussion.
Already being supported heavily by the likes of Scuba and George FitzGerald (who played both tracks on his Radio 1 'In New Music We Trust' residency).

GERRY READ - Shrubby - Aus Music

At the age of just 21, Gerry Read has already worked with an exceptional cross-section of record labels including 2nd Drop, Delsin and Ramp’s sub-label, Fourth Wave. With a formidable back catalogue of EPs and two albums to his name, the prolific producer steps up for another rough and ready release on Aus Music.
Gerry’s approach to writing music is never pretentious or over-complicated, having carved out a name for himself with a spread of stilted house grooves. ‘Shrubby’ continues in a similar vein to this earlier material, with unpolished beats and unaffected production. His unique sounds are part influenced by playing the drums for over 9 years, “the ‘knackered’ sound…comes by itself from me using old recordings of me playing the drums…using this shit skype mic.” Don’t let these carefree techniques fool you, as big on the dancefloor as your headphones; everyone from Ben Sims to Deetron to Ben Pearce has championed his introverted 12”s.
Providing the sauce on top, Redshape remixes the original’ twice over, with his “Disco Scope” and “Not So Serious Mix.” With a similar attention to drums and raw sounds, the two remixes arm up what is an already strong release.

KOMON - Walk The Walk - Aus Music

Dopo i remix per Sideshow aka Fink e My My usciti sempre su Aus Music nel 2009, Kieren Lomax (aka Komon) torna a luglio sulla label di Will Saul con "Walk The Walk."

Con il suo album di debutto, pubblicato l’anno scorso da Apple Pips, Komon si è affermato come produttore "mutaforma". Dopo aver collaborato con Appleblim all'inizio di quest'anno a "Gas Jam /Silencio", il sound di Komon si è mosso con più decisione verso una house music ricca di consistenza e piena di chiarezza.

Come ex membro del collettivo drum&bass “Ice Minus”, l'amore di Komon per le radici della bass music sono chiaramente riconoscibili nelle linee di basso fragorose presenti in “Walk the Walk / Poly Sum”.

LEON VYNEHALL - Brother / Sister Ep - Aus Music

Che Aus Music, etichetta di proprietà di Will Saul (fresco tralaltro d'uscita sulla storica !K7 con il moniker di CLOSE), sia sulla cresta dell’onda in questi ultimi mesi è fatto innegabile e inconfutabile.
Ultimo a sfoderare le armi sulla label di Mr Saul è Leon Vynehall, artista inglese che, dopo un paio di EP per Well Rounded Housing Project e le tracce uscite su ManMakeMusic (label di George Fitzgerald), si presenta con due tracce eponime della release stessa.

GLIMPSE - True South Ep - Aus Music

Glimpse non ha bisogno di presentazioni. Da dieci anni a questa parte si muove con naturalezza tra le svariate sfumature di house e techno.
Questo nuovo EP su AUS Music punta dritto alla pista con un’infilata di pezzi belli spessi come “Whiles”, “True South” e il "South Soul Project Rmx" per non farci mancare una spruzzata di bass music, che va per la maggiore di questi ultimi tempi.

BICEP - Stash EP - Aus Music

2012 da incorniciare per Bicep: tour in una dozzina di paesi (tra cui Stati Uniti, Cina e Australia) che ha avuto i suoi momenti salienti in occasione del set al Panorama Bar di Berlino e al Trouw di Amsterdam; numero 35 nella RA Top 50 del 2012; premio come Best Breakthrough DJ della rivista DJ Mag.

DUSKY - Nobody Else Ep - Aus Music

Alfie Granger-Howell e Nick Harriman aka Dusky pubblicano finalmente il secondo potente lavoro su AUS Music.
Il “galleggiamento” tra underground house, techno e UK garage, fanno sì che le produzioni di questo duo londinese siano apprezzate e spinte da pezzi grossi tra cui Pete Tong, Joy Orbison, Jamie Jones, Boddika.
Il bassone e il clap la fanno da padrone nelle 4 tracce che compongo l’EP. “Atone” in particolare è cibo per la bocca dello stomaco, vibrazioni vere senza fronzoli, mentre in “Dummy”, “What I Never Knew” e “Nobody Else” i ragazzi si addolciscono un po’ (sempre per modo dire…) accennando qualche tenue melodia.
Anyway…roba da pista !

GEORGE FITZGERALD - Thinking Of You - Hotflush Recordings

Dopo le acclamate escursioni su Hypercolour e su Aus Music, George Fitzgerald torna a casa Hotflush, per la prima volta dal 2011, con "Thinking Of You" che anticipa l'album previsto a maggio.
Dopo aver dimostrato un innata capacità di narrazione musicale, George ruota sui regni oscuri della pista da ballo imbevuti di sfumature melodiche ed emotive continuando ad attrarre l'attenzione dei fan con la sua ricerca raffinata.
Mr Fitzgerald vanta una discografia regolare segnata dall' impronta di una produzione costante ed impeccabile.
Disponibile dal 18 di Marzo 2013 questo 12" one side reclama a pieno titolo un posto tra le selezioni dei dj più acclamati.

MIDLAND - Trace - Aus Music

Il 2012 è stato un anno molto impegnativo per la Aus Music, etichetta fondata e diretta da Will Saul e da uno dei nostri eroi Ninja Tunes Mr Fink; un anno intenso a definire i suoni e gli standard che dominano i dancefloor di tutto il mondo.
12 mesi di release come Placement Ep di Midland, You / Don't Ep di Bicep, Child Ep di George FitzGerald per finire con Relapse Ep di Cottam.

Ed è proprio da Midland che Aus ricomincia la sua partita nel 2013!
Due tracce floor-killer per  palati fini e djs da line up serrate.
